Tuesday, November 13, 2018, we will be in Big Baker to work on—
We will be in Big Baker Memorial Chapel on the campus of McDaniel. Singers—try to get there a little early if possible. We will work out all placement and logistics in the new space.
Handel soloists should try to arrive by 6:15 if at all possible.
We will review for all remaining details—and then run in order:
“Hine ma tov”
Movement 1 (everyone particularly review page 11 – 14),
Movement 2 (just make sure you know the runs and look ahead),
Movement 18 (we have not done this for a while—but it was very solid. Review a bit before rehearsal would be great.)
If time allows we will include in the Handel run—the solo movements (3, 17)
We will also definitely rehearse and run movement 3 in Koontz (which does not involve the orchestra).
Depending on remaining time, we will touch the trickiest spots in the Koontz. Among those are:
Movement 1—measure 145 and the following section—see it coming and be ready for the hemiolas (displaced beats).
Movement 2—measure 65—and measure 71—Men be ready to nail you pitch on those entrances. measure 80—the tempo goes double time there—just be alert for how to count it!
Movement 5—measures 104-108—watch the alternating eighth notes vs. triplets!
Movement 6—I think we will be ok—but review finding pitches in the ending section.
And—as if that is not enough—we will find a minute to review “Carol of the Bells.” We do have some developing “flash mob” possibilities throughout the area—more on that later . . .
It will work best if everyone is reviewing parts on their computers at home:
Saturday, November 17, 2018 (in Big Baker)—
***Saturday rehearsal*** Hopefully, everything will be set. It will focus primarily on Koontz with orchestra.
