General Information

Illness Policy
Please stay home if you are sick, feel you may be getting sick, or have a fever, cough, or other upper-respiratory or intestinal symptoms. If you are unsure, please mask at rehearsals. Community care is a goal and responsibility for each and every one of us.

Concert Attire
Women: Floor-length black dress, or black pants/skirt (floor-length) with black top (shoulders covered), black shoes.
Men: Black suit, white dress shirt, black shoes and socks, black bow tie.

Music Scores
Please treat your music with care! Use only light pencil to mark your scores, never pen or highlighter. Erase any marks you no longer need as you learn the music (this saves our dedicated Music Librarians a lot of time and effort at the end of the concert!). Scores should be stored in the manila envelope they come in and then in a black music folder as soon as possible. See below for purchasing options. Never hole-punch your music. All music must be returned at the end of the concert, if you are no longer able to participate in the concert, and/or at the end of the Summer Workshop (regardless of whether you’ve paid dues for the season at that time or not).

Rehearsal Expectations
Choral singing is a very powerful art form because of the way so many diverse voices and expressive feelings meld into one unified sound. To accomplish this, please follow these simple expectations:

  • Attendance: Do not miss more than three rehearsals, if possible. Place a check by your name on the attendance sheet when you arrive. If you know in advance of a date you cannot attend, write “out” on that date. Contact Dave Miller or Elaine Conover if you are unable to make a rehearsal.
  • Access: If you get locked out at Winters Mill HS on a rehearsal night, text Elaine (443-340-4447) or Susan (410-991-9558).
  • Name Tags: We encourage you to wear your name tag each week. There are a lot of us singing and it can take a while to learn everyone’s name.
  • Socializing: Feel free to come any time after 6:00 p.m. or hang around after rehearsal to socialize. Refrain from chatting with your neighbors during rehearsals.
  • Preparation: Take time at home to work on your music using the rehearsal resources provided on the website. Have a pencil ready to lightly mark your music. Warm up your voice prior to arrival.
  • Email: Add “masterworks@masterworksofcc.org” to your Contacts to make sure emails from us don’t land in your Spam folder.
  • Inclement Weather: We will not have rehearsals on days when Carroll County Public Schools are closed. For updates, see the CCPS Inclement Weather web page. But use your own best judgement about whether travel conditions are safe for you.
  • News: If you have information to share with the choir via the weekly “Singer News,” contact Dave Miller.
